General Description:		Systems Administrator with up to 10 years of hands on Systems Administration experience in a customer driven environment. Specific experience in computer network engineering and/or administration; working with both LAN and WAN networks in a heterogeneous UNIX/LINUX/Windows environment; network security; switch and router protocols; server integration into existing networks; software application integration; software product licensing management; file and mail servers, and software/hardware vendor procurement and maintenance support. A minimum of a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Systems, Network Engineering, or Information Systems Management is required. The Systems Administrator will be expected to provide design recommendations and support the operational management of an organization’s LAN and WAN, to include recommending the hardware and software to meet an organization’s IT needs and managing the introduction of new equipment and systems. They must ensure corrective and preventative measures are performed on existing equipment and systems. They must have an extensive understanding of available network operating systems, network equipment and networking protocols, as well as the ability to program scripts and batch files. This individual must be able to develop network plans, ensure communications among various technologies, document the existing network infrastructure, negotiate with solution providers, troubleshoot problems, establish backup and recovery plans, and identify solutions to problems. It is imperative that the Systems Administrator be customer driven and possess strong interpersonal skills. Preferred: A Masters in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Systems, Network Engineering, or Information Systems Management, or a related field is desired. Demonstrated experience with the ability to lead and mentor other Systems Administrators or Network Engineers is a plus. Candidates with certifications (MCSA, MCSE, MCP, A+, CompTIA, RHCE, RHCT, CCNA, CCNP,) will be given additional consideration.
